Ambience and Decoration
I visited the Sofraga Palacio restaurant in Ávila on a Friday night, accompanied by another person. Interestingly, we were the only diners in the restaurant, which made the experience quite unique.
The atmosphere of the place is very pleasant, with music at a perfect volume and a beautiful light that enhances the refurbishment of the place, which has managed to maintain its classic look. The views of the courtyard and the impressive wall of Ávila give it a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Service
The service was attentive and friendly at all times, although we were surprised that the waiter did not know what the sauce was that accompanied one of the fish.
Value for money
All in all, dinner cost us 117 euros, a reasonable figure considering the quality of the service and the setting, although the food could be improved in some respects.
Gastronomy
As for food:
- Tuna saladIt was correct and tasty, although a bit dry for our taste.
- HakeNothing more. The prawn sauce had a somewhat strong flavour reminiscent of "pescadazo".
- Chuletón de ternera de Ávila (Avila veal chop)A classic of the region, and it was correct, although not particularly outstanding.
One detail we didn't like was that the bread was dry, which detracted a little from the dining experience.
The waiter recommended a wine called La Cendra, from Cebreros, which we liked very much and complemented our meal well.
We decided not to have desserts, so I can't comment on them.
Conclusion
Overall, Sofraga Palacio is a restaurant with a very pleasant ambience and attentive service, although the food, although good, could be improved in some areas. I would give it a chance, especially for its lovely setting and views. For the moment, our rating is ** stars.
