Ambience and Decoration
Located in the charming neighbourhood of Chamberí, in calle Modesto Lafuente, number 82, "La Tasquería" is a restaurant that specialises in casquería, offering a unique culinary experience. The ambience of the place is a fascinating combination of industrial style half in ruins but with a touch of elegance that makes it special. The light is pleasant and the seating is comfortable, with tables spaced far enough apart to enjoy a quiet meal.
Service
Service is attentive if somewhat inconsistent; we had to ask for the bill three times and they didn't like to hold dessert until one person in our party returned from parking the car. Despite these drawbacks, the quality of the food made up for any inconvenience.
Value for money
The final price was 104 euros per person, including about three glasses of wine each, which we felt was adequate given the quality of the food and the overall experience. However, due to the heavy nature of the food, it is a place we would recommend more for the winter months than for the summer...
Gastronomy
We tried two tasting menus simultaneously, and each dish was a pleasant surprise. The flavours were well ordered, increasing in intensity in just the right way. The food overall was very tasty and of high quality. We tried the local classic, the pig's head, which although delicious, turned out to be quite heavy and was too much food for midday.
Among the very varied dishes we tried, the highlights were the "duck hearts", "veal tendons" and "rooster crests". If you don't like casquería, don't even think of going because there are no other options on the menu. We were two people and one negative point was that the dishes were not divided in such a way that we could both taste everything properly, appreciating all the flavours as they should have been.
The desserts, while not terrible, were not up to par with the rest of the menu and some, such as the "chicken skin", were a little strange and unappetising.
Conclusion
Overall, "La Tasqueria" is a restaurant worth visiting, especially if you are a lover of casquería. We give it 4 stars out of 5.
