Chicken breast with honey mustard sauce.

This dish of chicken thighs with honey mustard sauce is a tasty and easy-to-prepare recipe, perfect for a family meal or dinner with friends. The combination of the sweetness of the honey and the acidity of the mustard creates an irresistible sauce that perfectly adheres to the chicken, giving it a unique and delicious flavour.

Ingredients:

  • 8 chicken thighs (skinless)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the honey mustard sauce:
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamier sauce)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Elaboration:

1. Preparation of the chicken:
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Add the chicken breasts to the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
2. Preparation of the sauce:
  • In the same pan, add the chopped garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  • Add the Dijon mustard, honey and apple cider vinegar. Mix well.
  • Stir in the chicken stock and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • If you want a creamier sauce, add the heavy cream and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
3. Completion of the dish:
  • Return the chicken breasts to the pan and cover with the honey mustard sauce.
  • Simmer for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavours of the sauce.
  • Serve hot, accompanied by your favourite side dish, such as rice, mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
4. Dressing:
  • Dress the salad with extra virgin olive oil, vinegar and salt to taste. Mix well so that all the ingredients are impregnated with the dressing.
5. Advice:
  • For a more intense mustard flavour, you can use a spicier mustard.
  • If you like it spicy, you can add a pinch of cayenne powder to the honey mustard mixture.
  • You can use this same recipe to marinate chicken breasts or chicken thighs.
  • If you like, you can also bake the recipe in the oven:
    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with aluminium foil.
    • In a large bowl, mix the mustard, honey, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
    • Place the chicken thighs on the prepared baking tray. Pour the honey mustard mixture over the chicken, making sure all the pieces are well coated.
    • Bake for 20 minutes. Then turn the thighs over and bake for a further 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is golden brown and crispy.
